Students are required to maintain an overall grade-point average of 3.20 and a 3.20 in major coursework.

Students must successfully complete one of the following courses: COMM 521H, Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanisms (4 cr.); COMM 522H The Acquisition of Language (4 cr.); COMM 524H Applied Phonetics (4 cr.); and, students must successfully complete COMM 630H Organic Pathologies (4 cr.) and COMM 631H Articulation and Language Disorders in Children (4 cr.) Each course will require an additional, special project.

Students must successfully complete COMM 795H Independent Study (4 cr.), a written thesis directed by a faculty member with expertise in the student's chosen area of study. The thesis can be a comprehensive literature review or a descriptive or experimental study.
