Undergraduate Financial Aid

The Department of Family Studies does not offer scholarships or financial aid to undergraduates. Therefore, undergraduate students who need assistance with tuition and other costs should contact the UNH Office of Financial Aid for information on available scholarships, grants, work-study jobs, and loans.

Students should also be aware that they MUST complete a Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) form no later than March 1st of the year they will enroll in order to qualify for financial aid at UNH.

In addition to university-sponsored financial aid opportunities, there are several scholarships, fellowships, and awards for which Family Studies majors may apply:

Noah Feldman Scholarship Award – The Noah Feldman Scholarship Award was created in 1994 in memory of a special needs child who attended the UNH Child Study and Development Center. The Feldman Scholarship is awarded to one or more students interested in the inclusion of children with special needs in early childhood settings. Applicants must be seniors in Family Studies, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and experience in the classroom with special needs children. The application form for the Noah Feldman Award is available on the Family Studies Forms page.

Steelman Fellowship – The Steelman Public Service Fellowship Fund was established in 1999 by David C. Steelman and Dr. Virginia Theo-Steelman to provide stipends for undergraduate students in the School of Health and Human Sciences to complete full-time summer service learning experiences in the public service sector. Steelman Fellows are selected on a competitive basis and assigned to cooperating health and human services agencies to provide needed services for vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. Students who are interested in submitting a proposal for the Steelman Fellowship should contact Neil Vroman, Associate Dean of CHHS.
