Department of Health Management and Policy Alumni Recognition Award

This annual award is established to recognize exemplary, ongoing contributions made by graduates of University of New Hampshire Department of Health Management & Policy. Recipients of the award are chosen by the faculty of the department from nominations received from students, alumni, or others in the field.

2009 Recipients

Betsey Andrews Parker graduated from UNH in 1995 with a degree in Health Management and Policy and a minor in Women’s Studies.  She earned her Masters in Public Health in 1998 from Boston University with concentrations in Epidemiology and Social Behavior.   Ms. Andrews Parker has worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer, a Health Care Organizer with NH Citizen’s Alliance, a project assistant for Turning Point at the Community Health Institute, and as the Executive Director of the Greatbay Chapter of the American Red Cross.  She spent the past five years as the Director of the Northern Strafford County Health and Safety Council, a non-profit she created to serve as the regional public health agency for the municipalities in Northern Strafford County.  During this time, she secured over 1.2 million dollars in funding from the CDC, Department of Education, Office of Drug Abuse and Prevention, State of New Hampshire and private foundations for public health initiatives.   She made career change last November when she accepted a position as the Public Health Practice Manager for Homeland Security Programs, EG&G Technical Services, in Arlington, VA.  She currently works on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services International Pandemic Influenza Exercise series and is the lead manager for the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Food Defense Pilot Program.  Ms. Andrews Parker resides in Dover with her husband and three children.

LRGHealthcare Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Lipman joined LRG’s administrative staff in 1984 as the Budget Planning Director.  In 1985, he was appointed Vice President of Professional Services.  In 1990 he assumed the role of Vice President of Professional Services and Finance and in 1997 became Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Lipman was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2000.  Mr. Lipman graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire’s Health Care Management and Policy Program and received his Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in health care management from Boston University.  In 2003, Mr. Lipman, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, was elected Regent for the State of New Hampshire to the American College of Healthcare Executives.  In November 2005, Mr. Lipman was elected to Laconia’s City Council.  Prior to joining LRGH, Mr. Lipman was employed at Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire as a Management Engineer Assistant.

Denny R Roberge is currently the Director of Revenue Operations at Concord Hospital, in central New Hampshire.  He is a recognized leader in bridging technology and the needs of the revenue cycle. Denny has designed and implemented numerous databases and systems that enhance and complete the revenue cycle continuum.  These systems include Denials Management, Physician Compensation, Price Estimation, Charge Automation, and Cash Posting Management. 

 

Before joining Concord Hospital, Denny worked in several other healthcare organizations, including, The New Hampshire Hospital Association’s Foundation for Healthy Communities, Tucker Alan Inc., and The Massachusetts General Hospital.  His work includes the writing of legislative reports related to recommended healthcare reform, management of front-end revenue cycle redesign initiatives, creation of physician compensation models and systems, budget cycle redesign, and the design and installation of new patient accounting systems.

 

Denny is active with several non-profit organizations and foundations within the greater NH area including The Giving Camp and as treasurer of the Warner Fall Foliage Festival.
