STTI Honor Society

President’s Welcome

Welcome to the Eta Iota Chapter webpage.  You can find information about Sigma here as well as our Chapter work.  We post our events and monthly news on the Sigma Circle.

The 2018-2019 academic year was a busy one for our chapter.  Along with two research presentations (one per semester) held at local hospitals, and our induction held at UNH, we spent most of the year working on two big initiatives.  One was the development of a leadership intern program.  This fall we will pilot this program with two newly inducted UNH seniors, who will work closely with our board to learn about the organization and help us develop an updated communication plan.  The other was networking with partners to apply to Sigma headquarters to become an at-large chapter, which would expand our chapter to include Plymouth State University, Franklin Pierce University, and Exeter and Wentworth-Douglass Hospitals.  We won’t hear about final approval until fall 2019 but we are very excited about this and proud of the work we did with these partners.  Thank you to all of you for your support as we completed the process for application.

Look for us to host at least one event during each semester this year.  Our Region (15) is hosting a conference in Portland in September.  We are proud to announce that a recent UNH graduate, Nicole Moody, will be presenting a poster at that event.  This year at the Biennial Convention in November two board members will attend and represent the chapter at the international congress.

There are many service opportunities in our area this fall – 2019 James W. Foley Freedom Run on Oct 19, the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Seacoast Cancer Center 5K on Sep 22, and the Seacoast Walk to End Alzheimer’s also on Sep 22, to name a few.  We encourage you to participate and let us know as we’d love to showcase members in the community!  In the future, we’d like to consider having Chapter teams for these types of events.  Please let me know if you are interested!

If you are a chapter member, please fill out your profile on thecircle.nursingsociety.org/Home/ by clicking on My Profile.  The Circle and the Sigma website has much to offer members and we hope you’ll take advantage of the resources!
